My name is Kaye Grieve and I’m a scrapbooker – there I said it . . and I guess my story is probably very similar to many of you – I’ve always kept all the bits and pieces that go along with the great experiences in my life – photos, movie tickets, theatre programs, invitations, pressed flowers etc, but never quite knew what to do with them.
Around 2001, I was staying with my Mum (Yes, I’m Australian) when she returned home after an operation. As she became more mobile, I took her to visit her favorite card making store. It was here I saw my first real scrapbook. I was enthralled – while mum looked at papers and stamps, I looked through the pages of this scrapbook. I WAS HOOKED!
Until recently, I was working full time with a rewarding and challenging career as a teacher, a family I adore and a hobby I love – although it’s more like an obsession! This year however, all that changed. I was diagnosed with a serious illness that left me out of action. As I began to recover, I wanted to start scrapping again, but felt it hard to get motivated – where do I start, what should I work on, and not working put a strict limit on what I could buy in the way of products and tools.
To try and get my creative juices flowing, I started doing a monthly scrapbooking challenges with Nola (my Mum-In-Law), through our local scrapbooking shop. I secretly hoped this was a way to get back scrapping more regularly.
Each month we start with a pack containing a few supplies e.g. paper/cardstock and a few other bits and pieces such as ribbon, a flower, maybe a button. We work on a layout using only these supplies plus paint or ink. I found it difficult at first and it would take me the whole month to finish the layout.
I thought “Where do I start looking to find inspiration?”

Fact is . . .
